Hi everyone,

What a weekend!  I had my first "paying gig" for one of Grauman's Goodies.  It was for a friend of mine who wanted it for a shower she was helping throw.  It is a homemade chocolate cake, raspberry filling, with buttercream icing.  On top is white fondant with black scroll work.  I also did corresponding chocolate cupcakes with black and white cupcake holders to match the theme of the party.  I topped those off with red fondant cut out flowers!!

Shower!

Hi everyone!  I am working on a shower cake for a shower this weekend.....well, I haven't started it yet, but it's in the works.  It is going to be a chocolate cake with white buttercream and white fondant.  Then, I'll wrap in black ribbon with scroll work and some red roses!  I can't wait to show the finished project.  

My next project will be to work on my coconut cake recipes to find the most perfect one for my Dad and Beth's wedding!!  I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT ONE!!

Java's Birthday

First, happy early St. Patrick's Day!  A friend of mine, Lisa, asked if I could make her poochie a birthday cake!  I, of course, said sure!!!!!!!!  The transfer came out fine, but I struggled with the "brush stroke" look of the dog.  I hope Lisa isn't disappointed.

The dog house is made of rice krispie cakes and then brown fondant/gum paste mix.  "Woof!  Woof!" to good ole Java and I hope it's the happiest birthday a poochie could EVER ask for!

Velvety Red

Hi again...

So, I wanted to practice with some "red velvet."  Yes, I'm tapping into my southern roots here!!  Now, what you'll see is just some playing around with buttercream and scroll.  There is no consistency to the pattern in regards to the scroll work.  I was just having fun with the left over green icing.  I don't usually cut my cakes before serving, but I was dyyyyying to see the 4 layered look before the mister took it into work!  I JUST LOVE IT!!!  And the red velvet cake isn't too bad, either.  Rather scrumptious (the secret ingredient is the bit of cocoa powder I used).  

Anyway, I don't think I will be making any red velvet armadillo cakes anytime soon (think Steel Magnolias), but it's in my repertoire anyway (the cake that is).

Weekend Bliss

Hi everyone!  

No new projects to share today, expect a package came in the mail and fingers crossed, it's my business cards.  I will be heading to the post office in a few short minutes and will post the pictures upon returning home.  I have as project coming up this week for a friend of mine's poochie!!  I'm pretty excited.  I'll have those pictures posted for you on Friday.

The hunt continues for grants, rental space, and possible options for "Grauman's Goodies."  Until next time....making memories, one cake at a time!  :)

Fondant Fun

Hi Everyone....So, it's a rainy Sunday and what did I decide to do today????  I messed around with the fondant I had left over from my final cake class project.  This is a chocolate cake with vanilla pudding (as per Mr. Grauman's request).  I experimented with some flowers and bows and tried out covering a square cake.  IT WASN'T BAD AT ALL!!!  I'll be bringing this in to work tomorrow.  I have my first official order at the end of this month for a bridal shower.  I'm pretty excited!  Pictures to follow on that one later (obviously).  

Well, enjoy the photos.  I experimented with a photo shop background and adjusted some lighting.  Oh yes!!  I also went and bought backdrop material to make my pictures look a bit more "professional" and just overall nicer!

"Business Cards"

Well, it's official.....business cards are in the mail!!  Slowly but surely, the ball is rolling.  If you click on the link below, you will see a little slice of heaven!  Ok, ok...it's not heaven, but it's pretty darn cute.  Grauman's Goodies, here I come!

Cupcakes and Gumpaste Flowers!

Hi there....As promised, here are some strawberry cupcakes with gum paste flowers.  You'll see carnations (my Nanny's favorite), roses, calla lilies,daisies, and mums.  While they are a little rough around the edges, when combined on a cake or in a colorful combination, the finished product is to die for.  This is just a sample....the possibilities are ENDLESS!!
