Summer Endings

Well, Papa Russ and Beth's wedding went off without a hitch!  While the weather was iffy on the days around the Wedding Day, the actual Wedding day was GORGEOUS!!  Nothing but blue sky and white puffy clouds.  I'll even post a picture or two of the wedding.  For the wedding, 4 dozen cupcakes were made with buttercream icing, topped with a small daisy!  The 2-tiered wedding cake was home made coconut cake with fondant covering.  Beth's choice of flowers were daisies, and so they shimmered the cake!

Overall, the wedding was a blast with wonderful friends and a beautiful family!  I'm not sure what orders are in store for me, but I'm sure I'll get the bug to create something new in the very near future for fall!

Until next time, making memories, one cake at a time!

Summer Summer Summer

Well, it sure has been a while since I was last on here!  What a crazy, busy summer this has been.  It's been filled with family adventure, surgeries (not mine, folks), the death of a family pet (again, not mine), birthday celebrations, friends and family visiting, and upcoming wedding with guaranteed fun, and some good ole sun!

Below you will find some pictures I've taken this summer.  You'll love the Mickey cake for my nephew's 1st birthday, with matching Mickey cupcakes.  Logan just dove into the cake!  I'll have those pictures to post, too.  The before and after!  Also, you'll love the shower cake I did.  I had free reign, but with no guidelines, believe it or not, it was quite difficult.  It was meant to compliment a beachy-type themed bridal shower.  I love the ribbon I lined the cake with.

Now, my dad's wedding is this coming weekend.  I'll be making that wedding cake, with matching cupcakes, this week.  I'll be sure to post pictures after the event!

In the meantime, enjoy the photos and spread the word.  AGain, orders can be made via the blog.  Just go to the "email me" link, and I'd be happy to help if I can!

Until next time....making memories, one cake at a time!

Summer Beginnings

Well, the start of summer has officially started!  Hip hip horray!  So much is happening: graduations, proms, 8th grade dances, picnics, weddings, engagements, babies (nope, not me), and many more exciting things.  I'm so fortunate to be a part of it, too.  Below are some pictures of the mini cupcakes I made:  cherry chip with cherry flavored frosting.  Let me tell you, those little stinkers were a T.R.E.A.T.!

Also included is the graduation cake I made for my friend, Lisa.  Her son graduated high school.  Gold is not an ideal color to find in fondant, so I painted the circles with gold petal dust.  The graduation cap is....well, not the best.  Still cute, though, with rice krispie treats to help.  My black fondant was just not having a cooperative day!

Anyway, more to come in a couple of weeks as I tackle another bridal shower cake!  I can't wait.  My stickers have arrived and the first time I use them, I'll be taking photos of them, too.  Also, I apologize for the background of my photos.  Mr. Photographer (aka Brian) was not home when I was ready to have the pictures taken and well, you can see that my pictures just don't compare. :)

Until next time....happy anniversary to Brian and I (our 1 year) and we'll continue making memories....one cake at a time!  :)

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hi Fellow Bloggers and Blog Followers:

Phew!  I can't believe that summer time is almost here.  The next few weeks are going to be busy for me and Grauman's Goodies!  I have ordered post it notes, as well as stickers to further help "advertise" the blog!  I'm hopeful that word will spread and cake making will pick up.
To come this weekend, you will see cake pops, mini cupcakes, and a shower cake.  Also, I will be posting the cupcakes and cake I did for a wedding rehearsal dinner!  Pink and brown were the color scheme for this shower.

I'm hoping this summer, since I'm not teaching summer school, to maybe get my foot in the door at a local bakery.  I'll keep you posted on that.  In any event, the baking continues.  I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed making the yummy treats.

Until next time...making memories, one cake at a time!  :)

Easter Fun

Hi Everyone,

Well, I hope everyone had a happy Easter!  I made my yummy cherry pie with lattice crust, cake pops, and a coconut cake that will be served at my dad's upcoming wedding.

In an effort to help those who want to consider placing an order, particularly over the summer, I've added a link to directly email me.  That link will take you to my personal email that I check on a daily basis.  I hope this helps.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.  Stay tuned for more pictures.
Until next time....making memories, one cake at a time!

Stackable

Hi everyone,

What a weekend!  I had my first "paying gig" for one of Grauman's Goodies.  It was for a friend of mine who wanted it for a shower she was helping throw.  It is a homemade chocolate cake, raspberry filling, with buttercream icing.  On top is white fondant with black scroll work.  I also did corresponding chocolate cupcakes with black and white cupcake holders to match the theme of the party.  I topped those off with red fondant cut out flowers!!

I hope you enjoy the cake photos as much as I enjoyed making them.  Until next time...making memories, one cake at a time!

Shower!

Hi everyone!  I am working on a shower cake for a shower this weekend.....well, I haven't started it yet, but it's in the works.  It is going to be a chocolate cake with white buttercream and white fondant.  Then, I'll wrap in black ribbon with scroll work and some red roses!  I can't wait to show the finished project.

My next project will be to work on my coconut cake recipes to find the most perfect one for my Dad and Beth's wedding!!  I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT ONE!!

In any event, the cakes are still coming and so do the memories.  Until next time, making memories.....one cake at a time!

Java's Birthday

First, happy early St. Patrick's Day!  A friend of mine, Lisa, asked if I could make her poochie a birthday cake!  I, of course, said sure!!!!!!!!  The transfer came out fine, but I struggled with the "brush stroke" look of the dog.  I hope Lisa isn't disappointed.

The dog house is made of rice krispie cakes and then brown fondant/gum paste mix.  "Woof!  Woof!" to good ole Java and I hope it's the happiest birthday a poochie could EVER ask for!

Until next time....making memories, one cake at a time!

Velvety Red

Hi again...

So, I wanted to practice with some "red velvet."  Yes, I'm tapping into my southern roots here!!  Now, what you'll see is just some playing around with buttercream and scroll.  There is no consistency to the pattern in regards to the scroll work.  I was just having fun with the left over green icing.  I don't usually cut my cakes before serving, but I was dyyyyying to see the 4 layered look before the mister took it into work!  I JUST LOVE IT!!!  And the red velvet cake isn't too bad, either.  Rather scrumptious (the secret ingredient is the bit of cocoa powder I used).

Anyway, I don't think I will be making any red velvet armadillo cakes anytime soon (think Steel Magnolias), but it's in my repertoire anyway (the cake that is).

Enjoy the photos and until next time....making memories, one cake at a time!
